A loan of $9,400 helped to pay tuition.

Paula Carolina's story

Paula Carolina is a young medical student. She is asking for a loan so she can pay for her studies. This is her story,

“I’m Paula Carolina. I’m 18 years old, Dominican, and live in Arenoso La Vega. I was born and raised in La Vega and have lived here my whole life. I have four siblings and live with two of them. I’m the youngest of all my siblings. My father works in Cotui and my mother is a housewife. I began studying as a first year medical student at the Catholic and Technology university in Cibao (UCATECI), and I’ve chosen this career because I feel that I will treat my patients with love when I become a doctor. I need a loan because I don’t have the money to pay the university and I have not been able to get a scholarship. The loan is the option that I need to be able to become a professional. Without it I will not be able to continue as a medical student. I have goals of giving my all, working hard, pushing myself so that things will go well for me in my career, growing as a person over time, and helping my family in the future, especially my mother. Once I complete my studies, I will look for work as a general practitioner and evaluate specialties.
