Mairamkan's story

Mairamkan is 49 years old, she is a widow and raised 4 children alone. She receives a pension due to the loss of the main provider of 3,300 som (KGS) per month. Mairamkan has a vocational education. After finishing school, she finished a seamstress course. She worked as a seamstress at different sewing plants. Today she works at a private sewing plant as a seamstress-technologist, at the same time she works in agriculture. Starting in 1994, having received a plot of land she started working in agriculture. Mairamkan started this business with 5,000 som (KGS). Thanks to Mairamkan's hard work, today her holdings include 1 dairy cow, 10 sheep, and also a 1.60 hectare plot where she grows beans and potatoes. In the winter she sells milk. Her children help her with her holdings. Her monthly income is 5,700 som (KGS). Mairamkan belongs to group "Theta-2," this group has 2 other people. In total there are three of them. Mairamkan is the group leader. In order to further grow her business Mairamkan turned to Microfinance bank "Bai Tushum & Partners" for a loan of 50,000 som (KGS) for the purchase of sheep to increase her livestock count. Mairamkan plans to invest her earnings from the loan into further increasing her livestock count and plans to save money to remodel her home.
