Ruth helped her husband managing their own rice farm for a living. She has been in this activity for eight years, earning well for their family needs. She borrowed from GDMPC micro-credit to purchase a new variety of seedlings and fertilizer for the next crops. She is hopeful to gain more returns from her investments. In the near future, she wants to improve the general living situation of the entire family.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
