A loan of $1,175 helped to purchase more bags of rice, sugar and onions for resale.

Mohamed's story

Meet Mohamed. He is a 55-year-old from Masuba, Makeni, Northern area, in Sierra Leone. He is married with six children.

He began this business when he was a shop assistant. In 1998, Mohamed established his general merchandise store to create a permanent source of income, so he would not depend on his children alone. Mohamed works at the business from 8:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m., seven days per week. He says that his major problem in his business is poor security control.

Mohamed requires a loan in order to purchase more bags of rice, sugar and onions for resale. He hopes that the extra income from this loan will allow him to empower himself and increase his business.

In the future, Mohamed plans to establish his goods business in another village. He thanks you for your support.
