A loan of $1,000 helped to purchase more chickens for her farm.

Mable's story

Mable is 34 years old and lives in the town of Bulenga in the region of Kampala north in Uganda. She is married and has 3 children with 1 of them currently in school. For the past 7 years, Mable has been working hard to manage her poultry farm, which sells chicken.

To help expand her business, Mable has requested a loan of 2,500,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase more chickens for the farm, and will help Mable to generate greater profits and growth in business. Mable hopes that in the future she will be able to expand the her business into a bigger farm.

Mable is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Mable who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
