A loan of $2,050 helped buy cows.

Rakhat's story

Rakhat is 38, married, and raising 3 children together with her husband. She has the equivalent of a high school education with some vocational training, and raises livestock for a living, first starting 18 years ago with 6,000 som worth of animals. Her husband, Ulukbek, works in public transit, driving passengers to and from the villages in her area. Ulubek's mother is retired and also lives with Rakhat and her family, helping look after their children when she can.

Rakhat's farm is ideal for raising livestock. Thanks to her persistent efforts, she currently has a dairy cow and 10 sheep on her farm, and her monthly income has grown to nearly 4,000 som. To further develop her farm, she is seeking a loan of 100,000 som from Bai Tushum & Partners to buy some cows. She hopes to use any future earnings due to the loan to continue to buy more livestock, as well as to save up money for a sewing machine, as she loves to sew and embroider in her spare time.
