A loan of $4,500 helped a member to increase stock of beauty salon cosmetics.

Huruma Group's story

Lilian, a single woman aged early 30s, has been managing her family expenses by running two enterprises. One of Lilian's businesses is a grocery where she sells drinks like spirits, beers, soft drinks, juices and water. A beauty salon is another of Lilian's businesses, where she sells cosmetics at the same place. She has been operating these businesses for four years now and is working from 8am to mid-night hours. Lilian is able to earn good monthly returns.

From Kiva Partner Tujijenge Tanzania, this is Lilian's third loan request which she will use to increase her stock of beauty salon cosmetics. With her previous loans, all of which have been repaid in full, she purchased more grocery drinks, empty crates for ordering beers and soda, bought a salon drier and small working equipment. With Lilian's profits, she covered school fees and household expenses, bought a home freezer and reinvested in her businesses. She dreams to be a successfully woman.

Lilian will share this loan with her loan group" HURUMA" which totals 4 members. The members of the group will hold each other accountable for paying back the loan.
