Her husband works as a weigher at a local utility. Cholponkan has a secondary education, and has been working in a factory as a weigher for 25 years. For additional income, Cholponkan and her family are involved in animal husbandry. They started 29 years ago with the purchase of a cow for 3,000 KGS. Through hard work in her business, Cholponkan now has two dairy cows and one horse. Her monthly income is 15,000 KGS. In order to grow her business, Cholponkan has applied for a 135,000 KGS loan at microfinance bank Bai Tushum and Partners. She plans to purchase steers and heifers to feed and subsequently resell on the market at a higher price. Cholponkan plans to invest income from the loan to further grow the number of domestic animals she keeps, as well as to save money for her son's wedding.
