The women of the "Parana" group are on average 45 years old with six children and all live in traditional extended households in Kimparana, in the San circle in the fourth administrative of the Republic of Mali.
These women know each other through family connections and run businesses buying and selling food products and various items..
After having properly repaid their previous loans, the women of the Parana group are on their seventh solidarity (group) loan. She gets her supplies in Kimparana and makes her sales to a clientele comprising men and women, in cash and often on credit.
She foresees realizing an average monthly profit of 35,000 FCFA, which will be used to pay for expenses relating to health, food, clothing, and school fees, with the rest being reinvested in her business.
