A loan of $525 helped to purchase food supplies to increase his inventory.

Rodrigue's story

Rodrigue is a 28-year-old man, unmarried, and a father of a 2-year-old child. He is a merchant and has been reselling fresh staple foods (tomatoes, fish, chili peppers, condiments, etc.) seasonally at a local market for seven years. He is very familiar with suppliers and especially his customers, whom he has acquired over the course of time thanks to his experience in this domain. But he constantly finds himself short of inventory, since he is compelled to sell all of it in order to procure more. This is due to his meager capital. He would like to increase his inventory of staple foods by purchasing in bulk. This will not only increase his sales but also his profits, of which some will be reinvested in his business to expand it. The rest will enable him to meet family needs.
