Carlos Alberto's story

Carlos Alberto, 25, lives with his wife and son in rural Nueva Arica, where the residents are farmers and merchants. It is one hour from the city of Chiclayo on Peru's north coast. He and his wife raise and sell small animals such as hens, turkeys, and guinea pigs. His business is in the back of his house.

He has applied for a loan of 1500 nuevos soles to buy nutritious animal feed and build two guinea pig pens so that he can increase his stock to sell and generate more income for his family.
