Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

Almakul's story

Almakul is 59 years old, married, and together with her husband, is raising eight children. Almakul has a higher education. As the main source of income for her family, Almakul practices livestock breeding. She started this business 13 years ago, with an initial purchase of cattle in the amount of 10,000 som (KGS). Thanks to Almakul's hard work, she currently has 2 milk cows on her farm as well as a 4.9 hectare plot of land on which she grows potatoes, beans, wheat and perennial grasses annually. Her monthly income is 10,000 som (KGS). For the purpose of further developing her business, Almakul turned to Microfinance Bank "Bai Tushum and Partners." She is requesting a loan in the amount of 80,000 som (KGS) to buy cows to increase the size of her herd. Almakul plans to invest the earnings from the loan in the further acquisition of livestock. She also intends to save money to renovate her home.
