A loan of $5,450 helped a member to purchase wholesale flour.

Nuevo Amanecer Balcon I Group's story

The entrepreneurial bank "Nuevo Amanecer Balcon I" (New Dawn Balcony 1) is made up of thirteen members: twelve women and one man. They all make their livings in different businesses. The president of this communal bank is Señora Maria. She is 38-years old, is married and has one 17-year old son. Señora Maria earns her living making and selling bread. This is her first loan cycle with the institution. She is going to use this loan to purchase wholesale flour for making "panetones" (Christmas pastries) for this Christmas season and to increase her working capital. Señora Maria plans to use her profits to keep improving her business. Her hope for the business is to be able to stock up with "panetones," as toward the end of the year she can sell a lot of them. She needs to take advantage of the increased sales to increase her income. Señora Maria is grateful for the opportunity that she is being offered.
