A loan of $750 helped to purchase agricultural inputs to apply to protect her coffee crops.

Karla Patricia's story

Karla Patricia is a young woman with many dreams who is eager to overcome and get ahead in life alongside her family members. She is 30 years old and is married. She attended primary school until the third grade. She is the mother of a son who studies in the community school and lives with his parents. She has been engaged in the planting, growing, and selling of coffee for over 8 years as her parents taught her to work the land she inherited from them. Today, she works serving her clients, residents of surrounding areas, and brokers, among others where she lives. To get the land where she works, she moves on a working animal or walks approximately an hour and forty minutes from where she lives. She and her husband are the only ones involved in the development of this activity.
She dreams of being the largest producer of this crop in the area while retaining 100% ownership. She wants to be attractive to customers as well as to open up a road to help her have easier access to her land by crossing the rough terrain. Today she has applied for funding to invest in the purchase of fertilizers, manure, insecticides, and other products to prepare her crop for the next harvest in an improved and safer way.
