Martha T.'s story

Martha T. is running a shop in the capital city, Buchanan, of Ground Bassa County, which is the major source of fishing production on the Liberian market. She is 59 years old and a widow with six children between the ages of 22 and 33. All of her children are on their own.

Martha sells lots of items like lappa (fabric), cosmetics and dishes (tubs, buckets, etc.) She started this business with help from her mother's savings and learned the trade from her mother. Presently, the problem she faces is low income. She is requesting a loan to buy more stock for her business. She enjoys her business because it has improved her life and her children's lives. Her dream is to expand her business even more.
