A loan of $375 helped to buy tables and chairs for her establishment and ingredients for the food.

Alicia's story

Alicia, age 52, is married to Evaristo, a merchant. They have five children with whom they live in their own house. Alicia sells fast food. In order to do so, she sets up every day in the front part of her house. It is located on a very busy street, and that is where she very kindly tends to her customers. Her life partner helps her with the preparation and waiting on customers during his free time.

She likes her business because it generates income to pay the household expenses and to support her life partner. On the other hand, it is tiring to have to set up and take down her sales stand every day. However, this does not discourage her. She wishes to continue working. Also, she says, she has plans to expand her space in order to set up more tables and chairs. This way she can tend to a greater number of customers.

This will be her eighth loan with Kiva. She is grateful for the financial support she is receiving in order to get ahead. She pledges to makes her payments punctually. She will use the requested 1,000 soles to buy tables and chairs. She will also buy ingredients like potatoes and chicken in greater volume for a lower price in order to prepare her fast food.
