A loan of $900 helped to buy carbonated drinks and ice cream at wholesale prices.

Elizabeth's story

Elizabeth is 36 years old and a single mother of two children, ages 5 and 15. She says that her children are her inspiration, and that she works hard every day to give them the best nutrition and education possible.

Elizabeth lives in her mother’s home, together with her sister, children and her father. She works from the home selling carbonated drinks and ice cream flavored with local fruits, and she keeps her products in a freezer that she owns. Elizabeth says that she has worked like this for two years, and is able to do so only because she manages to stock up with the products she makes.

Elizabeth considers her business to be profitable because she is left with a good income. She says that what she likes about her business is that she has time available to do other things in her home.

This is Elizabeth’s seventh Kiva loan. She says that she is very happy knowing that she will have financial support to move ahead with her business. Elizabeth will use this loan for 2,500 PEN to buy products at wholesale prices such as carbonated drinks and ice cream. She hopes to expand her business and have more products to offer to her customers.
