A loan of $3,925 helped a member to buy wool for her sweater business.

Fortaleza De Adelita Group's story

The communal bank “Fortaleza de Adelita” [“Strength of Adelita”] is starting its fourth cycle in Pro Mujer, through the Germán Busch regional office. The communal bank is made up of eight members, and is directed by a board of directors, of which Adela is the president. The businesses of the members are varied and include making sweaters and selling food.

This loan will be used in some small businesses of which Adela is a member. She says that she joined Pro Mujer seven years ago at the invitation of her sister-in-law, who is a member. Adela’s business is making and selling sweaters. She says that she learned this business from working as a machine operator in a weaving workshop. Later, with the first loan she received from Pro Mujer, she decided to start her own business.

Adela is requesting this loan to increase the capital of her business by buying wool, which she will buy from the distributors in the city of El Alto. After she makes the sweaters, she will sell them from her sales space. This work allows her to earn income to support her family, as she is in a common-law relationship and has five children.

When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, Adela replies that she likes the health and training services.
