A loan of $1,425 helped to buy certified potato seeds and supplies to grow and tend to her plantings of vegetables and strawberries.

Maria Purificacion's story

Doña Maria Purificación is a woman of 43. She is hard-working and very entrepreneurial. She didn't complete her primary education, but together with her husband and her three children, they have been able to excel, thanks to their dedication to the various tasks they perform in the fields, such as growing vegetables (potatoes, broccoli, and cauliflower) as well as strawberries. She has a lot of experience in this work, since she learned many years ago to work the land, experience that she acquired in her youth, instilled by her parents, work that she now does with her husband. The property that they work is their own, thanks to the work they have performed for a long time and their good administration. It is located a kilometer away from their home, a distance that they walk. Doña Maria Purificación and her husband work hard so that their children don't have to leave school and so that they can have a better future and a better style of living, and don't have to go through such a difficult situation as [the parents] did in their youth.

She has now applied for a loan from the COMIXMUL cooperative to be able to invest in the planting of potatoes, buying certified seed, fertilizers, and compost, and to use another part of the supplies for her planting of strawberries.

Her dream is to be able to improve the quality of life of her family and children, offering them a better education and giving them the opportunity to enter the university and graduate at a professional level. Her goals are to buy a piece of land to be able to work and cultivate more vegetables, continue investing in it, and strengthen the patrimony of her children.
