Joseph's story

Joseph is 46 years old and lives in the town of Mpigi in the region of Kampala South in Uganda. He is married and has four children who are all currently in school. For the past eight years, Joseph has been working hard to manage his grocery shop, which sells general items.

To help expand his business, Joseph has requested a loan of 3,000,000 UGX from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more stock of items for resale, and will help Joseph to generate greater profits and increase his sales and profits. Joseph hopes that in the future, he will be able to expand the business.

Joseph is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Joseph who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
