Genadi's story

Genadi is a 53-year-old married man. He lives with his son, daughter-in-law, and two grandchildren in the small village of Khelvachauri district. His daughter-in-law is a teacher at local school and gets 400 Gel per month. Genadi is involved in agricultural activities. He has 2 cows, whose milk is used in cheese products. In addition, he has a land, where different kinds of vegetables are grown. Genadi is a very hard working man and always has high quality products, which are sold to local retailers. Genadi decided to start his own business and requested a loan. The Start Up program, which is a joint initiative with Kiva and Credo, enables him to get a loan of $4000 for purchasing a minibus. Once the minibus is purchased, he will transport people and increase the income of his family. With increased income he will provide better living conditions for his grandchildren.
