A loan of $1,450 helped to pay for vehicle maintenance and to fix up a bedroom at home.

Jhon Carlos's story

Carlos, 39, lives with his wife in the district of Cayalti, where the local people are involved in growing crops such as sugar cane, rice and fruit, and in commerce and livestock farming. It is two hours from the city of Chiclayo on the northern coast of Peru.

He runs a public transportation service and uses his motortaxi to take customers to the rural villages in his community. Carlos has requested a loan in the amount of 4,000 PEN to provide maintenance for his vehicle so he can continue providing a safe service. Part of the loan will be used to fix up a bedroom at home to make it a more comfortable place to live.
