Mab is 43 years old and a rural villager, residing in Svay Chrom district of Svay Reang Province. He has two children. To overcome the daily financial burden in the family, he has been farming rice, raising pigs, and selling toys. Having been in this business for 26 years, he is able to earn about $33 per day, but he can save about $10 each day after expenses.

This is the first microloan for Mab with VisionFund. Now he is requesting an education loan to pay his daughter’s university tuition fee. He hopes that this loan will provide financial support for his daughter, so she can focus on her studying and obtain a good job after graduation.

About VisionFund Cambodia

VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.

Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
