However, his earnings are not enough to pay his tuition fees at the university, so his education is subsidized by his parents. Roeung is now a second-year student, majoring in law at Cambodia University for Specialties, located in Kampot province.
At the beginning of each academic year, Roeung experiences financial difficulties to cover his education costs. To help address this issue, Roeung has applied for a loan of USD 500, which will be used to pay his tuition fees.
Roeung is very delighted and grateful for the loan funded via a program like Kiva to allow poor student like him to pursue a higher education and contribute to the future development of Cambodia.
This loan will be disbursed over several years and paid directly to the educational institution at the time of enrollment fees for each academic year. Accordingly, there is the possibility of a small variation in loan amount and repayment terms, based on shifting class availability and prices.
Kiva lenders will be notified with a journal update in the event of any future changes to the loan terms.
