A loan of $650 helped buy seeds, fertilizers and fuel, so she can make enough money to renovate her home.

Gulbahor's story

Gulbahor is a humble, active 39-year-old woman who lives in Yavan. She works as a school teacher and is also a member of a collective farm. A collective farm is a small farm, owned by an individual or group, which employs several people. Most of these farms grow cotton, wheat, and vegetables. They account for 60% of the irrigated land in Tajikistan.

Gulbahor has been working on the farm for six years. She grows mainly vegetables and grain. Gulbahor's family life has not come together. She is divorced, has no children, and lives alone. So, she devotes all her time to school and farm work. Currently Gulbahor's plot of land is ready for sowing. She is asking for a loan to buy seeds, fertilizer, and fuel. Gulbahor plans to spend any money she makes on finishing the inside of her newly built home.
