A loan of $1,225 helped to buy agricultural supplies for her coffee plantations.

Sonia's story

Sonia is a young, persistent and enterprising woman. She is 25 years old, single and has no children. She finished high school, reaching a basic level of education. She still lives with her parents and siblings.

Sonia works in agriculture, which is a tradition in her family. She specializes in growing coffee and building greenhouses and has been doing so for more than ten years. Her clients are neighbors and friends, middle men, etc. Her coffee plantations are located five km [around three miles] from where she lives, so she, her siblings and her parents take a bus and work together growing coffee.

Her dream is to expand her plantations in the future in order to produce more and receive a higher income to get ahead with her family. However, her biggest dream is to continue studying and make it to the university, so she can have a professional carrier. This way, she could apply her knowledge doing what she does best and would be able to bring the best practices and the newest techniques and strategies to continue growing.

For this, she needs a loan to buy agricultural supplies in order to take care of her coffee plantations. She will buy compost, fertilizers, foliar spray, urea and other supplies she needs. With the profits she will make, she will take the first step towards the fulfillment of her biggest dream.
