A loan of $3,425 helped to cover the fees for his studies in medicine.

Nesthor Paul's story

Nesthor Paul is a young medical student. He is applying for a loan to be able to pay his educational expenses. This is his story:

My name is Nesthor. I am 21 years old and I now live in La Vega, Dominican Republic. I am single, without children, and I have two siblings. My parents are of scarce resources, and they work at domestic duties.

I am a medical student at UCATESI. I decided to study for this career because I love it and because I want to help other people of scarce resources to have better medical attention. The subjects that I am most passionate about are anatomy, physiology, and histology.

I decided to turn to a loan from Kiva-FUNDAPEC since I don't have the necessary resources to be able to cover the expenses, and my parents can't bear the costs. If I don't obtain this loan, I will not be able to continue studying, since I don't have a job, and what my parents earn barely gives us enough to survive.

My goal is to train as a doctor, taking maximum advantage of the learning process and then being able to choose to do my master's degree and be able to serve my community.
