A loan of $3,000 helped to purchase two cows and a calf.

Ashot's story

Ashot is an agronomist from Kapan city of the Syunik region. He lives with his wife and two-year-old daughter. To take care of his family’s needs, Ashot works in the private sector. His salary, however, is not enough to fully cover the family’s needs. In addition to his main job, Ashot is also engaged in cattle breeding. He sells the agricultural products in the local market, which is an important source of income for his family.

As life is getting more expensive day by day, Ashot needs to expand his agribusiness to more effectively meet the family's needs. He needs a loan of 3,000 USD to purchase two cows and a calf. He has already taken a loan from a local financial institution but unfortunately wasn't able to pay it back. However, thanks to his hard work during recent times, Ashot was able to run his agribusiness in a sustainable way, ensuring that he will be able to cover the monthly payments. So, he has now been approved for a loan within the framework of a new joint initiative between Kiva and SEF International. The second-chance loan program provides loans to people who have a bad credit history and have no access to credit products. Ashot and his family will be thankful to all lenders for helping them to sustain their agribusiness.
