A loan of $800 helped buy an overlock sewing machine and supplies.

Leticia Del Socorro's story

Leticia, 45 years old, is the mother of a 10-year-old daughter and the head of her household since her husband passed away. For about the last fifteen years, Leticia's primary work has been making clothing, which she learned by completing some training courses. These inspired her to open her own shop, and little by little, she has gained a clientele making all sorts of clothing. She also does work tailor work repairing seams and such for her friends, family, and neighbors. Through this work, she is able to generate enough income to support her home and provide her daughter with an education. She has also been able to buy her own home. Her drive, dedication, and determination have allowed her to rise above all adversity and come out ahead. She is requesting this credit with the goal of purchasing an overlock sewing machine (serger) and various sewing supplies at wholesale, including thread, fabrics, elastics, and buttons. With these she will be able to improve working conditions and speed up her production so that she can complete her orders on time. It will also open the way for her to accept larger contracts, which would mean greater income. Leticia dreams of expanding her business and purchasing more sewing machines so that she can create opportunities for employment, expand her customer base, and continue to provide the kind of well-being that will give her daughter a bright, successful future.
