A loan of $500 helped to stock her business of clothing sales and to make the most of the Christmas season, when there is higher demand and bigger potential to generate more income for her family.

Haydee's story

Haydee is a 51-year old woman who could only attend school until second grade. Her family was in a difficult situation of poverty and she had to quit her studies and work to help her parents. She is married and her husband works in agriculture. Her only daughter, who is already an adult, does not live with them. They only have each other.

She works in retail and has a small stand in the market, where she sells clothes. She has 15 years of experience in the business after starting out with her aunt for some time. She performed other activities before, such as cooking and sewing, with which she obtained income. She works 15 km away from her house and needs to wake up very early. She leaves at 5am in the morning so that she can be at the stand at 5.50am, from Monday to Saturday.

She is requesting a loan to buy clothes for her business, so that she can make the most of the Christmas season. There is more demand of clothes at this time of year, which would generate more income for her family. She would also like to have a permanent stand to sell. Her current one changes and moves periodically, which makes it more difficult to have loyal clients. She also wants her business to be well stocked.
