Irene's story

Irene, 37, lives with her son in Chumbenique, a rural area in the district of Oyotun. The people here grow rice and cotton. This place is located 2 hours from the city of Chiclayo, in the Lambayeque region of the northern coast of Peru.

Irene has a store where she sells all types of groceries, including rice, milk, beans, and vegetables. Her business is located in her home. In addition, she raises and sells barnyard animals. Irene has requested a loan of 2,000 Peruvian soles to buy groceries in bulk. This way, she can generate more income for her family.
