A loan of $1,700 helped to pay for his son’s university.

Kong's story

Kong, a rural villager from Battambang province's Battambang, is 54 years old and has two children, one of whom is still in school. Kong makes a living through working as a construction worker. Having been in this job for 18 years, he is able to earn about US$12 per day but he can manage to save about US$2 each day after daily expenses. This is the first-cycle loan for Kong with Kiva's partner, VisionFund. He is now applying for an education loan to pay for his son’s university. He highly hopes that this loan will enable him to send his son to university to obtain a higher education background and end up with a good job after graduation in order to support the family.
