A loan of $450 helped to pay his education’s fees.

Phong's story

Phong was born in 1988. He lives in Yen Phong, Bac Ninh, Vietnam. He is learning a master's degree in a water-supplying major at the National University of Civil Engineering. His course lasts 20 months, and he will be graduated in August, 2014. (The woman who was sitting next to him in this picture is his mother.)

His family has five members. He has a brother and a sister. His parents are farmers. His family’s total income is VND 7,000,000 per month. He has a part-time job to help pay his education’s fees.

He chose this major because he thinks this sector is indispensable in life, so that after finishing the course, he will have more opportunities to apply for a high-paid job or get promotion in his present job.

He wants to borrow VND 9,180,000 VND to pay his education’s fees. If he can’t access this loan, he can’t continue the course because he doesn’t have enough time to go to work to pay for studying. Besides lacking education fees, he has other difficulties, like lacking learning equipment.

He appreciates the humanity of this program, and he will try his best in studying and working for the best future. He hopes that other students in Vietnam can also supported by this kind of program, like him.
