A loan of $300 helped to buy organic fertilizer.

Brigida's story

Brígida, 26, is an admirable woman who lives with her husband and children in the house she inherited from her parents. Her main source of income is growing potatoes, corn and all types of vegetables on her own land as well as on rented land. She takes advantage of the long workdays to care for her animals: cows, oxen, and pigs. She says "People who know how to work dedicate their entire day to caring for the crops in order to get good quality." She also takes advantage of the oxen to plough with her husband. On weekends she sells food, as she has been cooking for many years and has frequent customers; so this is a way to earn extra income. This is her first KIVA loan and she is very happy because she will have the necessary capital to improve her business and quality of life. And, she enjoys being a member of the association because the other members are supportive, hard-working people. She will use the 800 PEN loan to buy organic fertilizer for her crops.
