A loan of $1,050 helped to buy grains.

Hamidou's story

Hamidou is roughly 51 years old, with a wife and 5 children. He lives with his family in the city of Koutiala (Sikasso Region).

Due to social circumstances, he did not have the opportunity to get an education, which is why he began supporting himself through various income-generating activities at a young age, particularly purchasing, storing and selling grains. This business provides him with enough income, and demand is often much larger than his supply, because he receives a large number of customers every day.

Hamidou has been working with the microfinance institution Soro Yiriwaso for more than 7 years in order to be able to satisfy his customers and expand his business. This is his 8th individual loan, after having repaid the previous 7 loans without any issues. This loan will be used to stock up on grains. He gets his supplies in Koutiala and the surrounding areas, and sells his products wholesale and retail in Bamako and Koutiala.

With this boost to his working capital, Hamidou plans on earning a monthly income of 100,000 CFA Francs, which he will use to pay back his loan, support his family and invest in his business.
