A loan of $1,000 helped to buy more computers and photocopiers.

Margret's story

Margret is 26 years old and lives in the town of Kireka in the Kampala south region of Uganda. She has two children, with one of them currently in school. For the past four years, she has been working hard to manage her secretarial shop, which offers typing and printing services.

To help expand her business, Margret has requested a loan of 2,500,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more computers and photocopiers, and will help her to generate greater profits and expand her profit margin. She hopes that in the future she will be able to have a big secretarial shop.

Margret is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Margret who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
