A loan of $2,525 helped a member to buy condiments.

Djantoyerela Group's story

The seven members of the DJANTOYERELA group are married women averaging 40 years old with 5 children each. Most of them live in polygamous families in the Noumousso neighborhood of Kadiolo.

This is their eleventh loan with the Soro Yiriwaso microfinance institution, in the hopes of satisfying their customers.

Sitan, seated in the middle of the photo, is the group member who sells condiments. With her loan, she intends to buy two 50 kg baskets of soumbala [a West African condiment], which she will sell for cash to female retail customers in Côte d’Ivoire.

She plans on earning an average monthly income of 52,500 CFA Francs, part of which will be used to pay off her loan with interest, and the rest of which will go into her savings.
