A loan of $5,225 helped a member to buy more stock for the general store, fix the fridge and the door of the premises where he keeps his fridge.


Maclaren Group's story

Devis, who is in his mid 50s is married with four sons two of them are still at school. He has been running a general store since 1995. He works from 06.00am to 08.00pm each working day and and is able to make a fair return each month. This is Devis's eleventh loan request from Kiva partner, Tujijenge Tanzani. He will use it to buy more stock for the general store, fix the fridge and the door of the premises where he puts his business fridge. With the previous loans all of which he paid back successfully, he restocked his general store with missing items so as to maintain his sales level. Devis used his business profit to pay college fees for his children, reinvested in the business and saved for his retirement benefits. He started building a house for renting. Devis dreams that one day will be able to finish building his house for renting and to have a better life. Devis will share this loan with his loan group "Maclaren" which totals eight members. The members of the group will hold each other accountable for paying back the loan.
