Lassina

Mali
Sikasso, Mali / Cereals

A loan of $825 helped to buy cereals for resale.

Lassina's story

Lassina is a 50-year-old, married, father of four children. He lives with his wife and their children in a large, traditional, extended family in Wayerma 1.

After unsuccessfully trying to make a living in several areas, Lassina started stocking and trading in cereals (maize, millet and sorghum) four years ago. He runs a shop in the main market. In order to satisfy his growing number of customers, he started using the services of the field partner, Soro Yiriwaso, several years ago.

This will be Lassina's seventh individual loan, the previous loans have all been fully repaid. With his loan, he will buy 15 sacks of maize, 10 sacks of millet and 5 sacks of sorghum from the area around Sikasso. These products will be stored in his shop and then resold wholesale, to retailers and heads of family.

Lassina expects to earn 90,000 francs CFA a month, and will use his earnings to contribute to his family's expenses, pay the interest on his loan and reinvest in his business.
