A loan of $1,625 helped a member to buy seeds and grow sunflowers for producing cooking oil.

Sony Group's story

Frida, who is in her late 50s, is a widow with two children. One of them is still in college, and one grandchild is also going to school. She has been running a business growing and harvesting sunflowers, and blending the seeds into cooking oil. She also buys from others to make more oil; she has been in this business for four years. She works from 8.00 am to 8.00 pm daily, and is able to make a fair monthly profit.

This will be Frida's tenth loan from Tujijenge Tanzania. She also used the previous loans to grow sunflowers to make into cooking oil. She has paid back all her loans successfully. She used the profit to pay college fees, and saved some in the bank.

She will use this loan to buy more seeds and grow sunflowers for producing cooking oil.

She dreams of improving her life style.

Frida will share this loan with her loan group "SONY", which has three members who will hold each other accountable for paying back the loan.

In this group: Frida, Semeni, Nelly
