A loan of $1,425 helped to buy aluminium, glass, and other materials.

Evelyn Yamary's story

The "Primero de Abril" communal bank meets every fortnight in the Montecristi canton, an area known for its rich, pre-colonial culture, and for its artisan products that are recognised both nationally and internationally. It is also from here that the famous Panama hat originates.

And it is here that 33-year-old Evelyn lives. She is married and has two children, aged 16 and 14 years old each. They are both studying in school, while Evelyn's husband is an artisan craftsman.

Evelyn is a very good wife and is taking out this loan to support her husband in his work. He has an aluminium and glass workshop and, there, with an assistant, he produces doors, windows, and other pieces of work with these materials. Evelyn's husband works from Monday to Saturday, almost all day long. Evelyn, herself, makes a living selling all kinds of clothes when she has spare time. Most of this loan will go to the workshop, which Evelyn's husband has had for over 17 years. With it, he has helped the family to prosper.

This loan will be used to buy aluminium, glass, and other materials that Eveyln's husband needs. Evelyn has been with the communal bank from the beginning and she likes the help which is provided through loans. Evelyn's dream is to give her children the best she can, and to see them become professionals.
