Gbolu's story

45-year-old Gbolu operates a shop selling soft drink in the Paynesville South Area of Liberia. It is a suburb of the capital city of Monrovia and one of the most populated areas in Montserrado County. The area boasts one of the best standards of living in the county with affordable rents, good roads, access to water and lots of transportation options. She is married and has three children aged between 15 and 30, only one is currently attending school and lives at home. Gbolu completed grade 11 before starting her business. She describes herself as a good business woman. Gbolu has had this shop for the past eight years now. She works eight hours, six days a week at her business. Her greatest challenge in business is the rainy season. She intends to use the loan to buy more soft drink. She started her business by help from her husband. She likes her business because she has more customers. In the future, she wants to own a house. She wants to thank the lenders for supporting BRAC Liberia and its borrowers.
