A loan of $1,000 helped to purchase some forage for cattle, and to buy onion seeds.

Artur's story

Arthur is a farmer from the Nor Kesaria village of the Armavir region. He lives with his wife and two-year-old daughter. His wife works in the village secondary school. Her salary is so low that she cannot afford a living based on that salary alone. To cover his family's needs, Arthur is engaged in cattle breeding, and in plant cultivation. He cultivates onions, melon, and alfalfa, and sells the agricultural products in the local market. To sustain his agribusiness, Arthur needs a loan of USD 1,000 to purchase some forage for cattle, and to buy onion seeds. He has already taken a loan from a local financial institution before, but unfortunately, wasn't able to repay it. However, thanks his recent hard work, Arthur was able to run his agribusiness in a sustainable way, ensuring that he will be able to cover the monthly payments. So, he has now been approved for a loan within the framework of a new joint initiative between Kiva and SEF international. The second-chance loan program provides loans to people who have a bad credit history, and have no access to credit products. Arthur and his family will be thankful to all the lenders and will highly appreciate their support.
