A loan of $3,000 helped to purchase twenty sheep and some feed for the livestock.

Marine's story

Marine is an experienced farmer from Sisian city of the Syuniq region. She lives with her husband, son, and elderly, pensioner mother-in-law. Marine works in a kindergarten and her son is a contractual serviceman in the military. With their low salaries, however, they cannot afford a living. To be able to meet her family's needs, Marine is engaged in breeding a herd of sheep in addition to being involved in aviculture, pisciculture, and the cultivation of potatoes, apples, pears, and walnuts. Marine's husband helps her greatly in her everyday farming activities; he brings the agricultural products to the local market.

To continue running her agribusiness in a sustainable way, Marine needs a loan of 3,000 USD to purchase twenty sheep and some feed for the livestock. As this is Marine’s first loan, it has been approved within the framework of the new joint initiative between Kiva and SEF. The first chance loan program provides loans to people who haven't had access to credit products in the past because they have no credit history. Marine and her family will be very thankful to the lenders for their good will and support.
