A loan of $3,100 helped a member to buy plaster.

Amigas De 6 De Junio Group's story

The “AMIGAS DE 6 DE JUNIO” communal bank will be starting its second cycle with Pro Mujer, as part of the Cascada centre. It is made up of eight members and is run by a board of directors of which Olivia is the President. The businesses which the members of the communal bank run are varied and among them are: selling plaster, selling meat, corner shop, knitting jumpers, weaving blankets, sewing skirts and selling clothing.

The loan they will take out will benefit small businesswomen of which Olivia is an example. She says she joined Pro Mujer six months ago after being invited by a promoter from the institution who went to visit her in her home. Currently she has a business selling plaster. She says she started this business several years ago as her husband was previously selling this product and she decided to set up independently.

The loan she will take out is to increase capital to buy plaster which she will buy from the wholesale stores in the city of El Alto and will later sell to order. This kind of work allows her to generate income to maintain her household as much as possible, since she is married and has four children.

When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she says she likes the training on loans and health and the clinics.
