Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

Hellen's story

Hellen is 27 years old, married to Wycliffe, and she supports four members of her family.

She runs a sukuma wiki (collard greens) business in Chepkumia, served by Kenya Agency for Development of Enterprise and Technology's Kapsabet office. This has been her income-generating business for the last three years. The business generates an average monthly income of KES 5,000.

Hellen plans to use the amount borrowed, KES 20,000, to buy sukuma wiki to sell. She plans to reinvest the anticipated profits into the business.
