A loan of $400 helped to buy a motor and a calf.

Yuris Alexis's story

28-year-old Yuris studied as far as the first year of high school. He is married and his wife is a trader at football venues. He has 2 young children who live at home and are not at school. Yuris works in his carpentry workshop. He has been doing this work for 16 years and learnt in the evenings by working in carpentry workshops. Before that he was studying. He decided to do this since in his hamlet everyone does the same work. He has only ever worked as a carpenter and has never done any other kind of work. Yuris's carpentry workshop is in his home, but he has to travel some 10km to deliver the furniture which he makes to a saleswoman. He works from 6am to 6pm. The loan he is asking for is to buy a motor and a calf. The motor, because it is the life of his workshop and without it he cannot get on with his work. The calf he hopes to fatten so he can sell it after a couple of months and make a profit. Yuris wants to extend his workshop more, to increase his deliveries and earn more. He wants to give his children the best, steer them along a good path and provide schooling for them. He works hard every day to achieve these dreams.
