A loan of $1,450 helped to buy a small field.

Moises's story

Moises is 56 years old, a widower, and father to three children. He lives together with his youngest in his own house, made of adobe bricks. He is characterized as a very hardworking man and an exemplary father in his community. He has worked in agriculture since he was very young, and after his wife's death he has been able to support his children financially and even to raise them to be good people. He says that when he began to do this work, the products he was producing were not in much demand due to various factors, and that this is the reason that since he was very young he has only managed to cover his food and basic expenses with his work. However, some years later his region became a source of agricultural products, which allowed him and other farmers in the area to improve their economic situations. His work consists of caring for his cocoa plantations as needed, either by himself or with help from local workers. After a long production period, he is finally selling his products to the local middlemen, and hopes to make back the money he invests. A long-term priority for him is to support his children as much as possible so that they become good professionals. This is the first loan that he is requesting from his financial institution and he hopes to be trusted. He would like to have available 4000 PEN to buy a small cocoa field, and hopes that with this field he can increase his production.
