Morrice's story

Morrice is 26 years old and is single without any children yet. He earns his income through the sale of crops, and he receives monthly compensation as a Community Knowledge Worker (CKW). Community Knowledge Workers are trusted community members who provide agricultural data and advice to rural farmers in their local area, including information about the weather, market prices, crop diseases and agricultural tools. Morrice also has a small business.

On his land Morrice grows maize, beans, sunflowers, peanuts and cassava. He also has cows, goats, chickens and pigs. Morrice has served as a CKW for the last two years, and he looks forward to renewing his CKW contract for the next three years. As a CKW, he will use the materials in his business-in-a-box (smartphone, solar charging set and weighing scale) to disseminate vital agricultural information to the other members of his village, which will help them to improve their crop yields and increase their incomes. With the additional money he will earn as a CKW, Morrice will invest in his farm. His biggest dream in life is to provide a good education for children.
