Indell 1 Group's story

The members of the Indell 1 group are married women with an average age of 38 and, on average, 4 children, who all live in polygamous families in Bandiara, the 5th administrative region of Mali. 90% of the Bandiara region is made up of cliffs and the women's main activity is onion growing and producing shallots and derivative products. The women transport the arable soil to higher ground in order to make the boards on which they will grow their produce. They are working with Soro Yiriwaso in order to be able to carry out their gardening activities at the end of this rainy season. They are on their second loan from the institution, having properly repaid the first.

Mariama Ano, standing second from the right in the picture, mainly grows onions. She plans to use her loan to buy seeds and fertilizer. After the harvest, the produce is sold in the village and in Bandiara to a clientèle made up of men and women. She expects to make a profit of 40 000 francs by the end of the growing season. This profit will allow her to support her husband with the family expenses (children's education, health, food) and to buy small ruminants and poultry. The rest will be reinvested in her business.
